Overview

Manage Group accounts to achieve guest satisfaction and to solicit past and new business to ensure all revenue group goals are achieved or exceeded. Reach the agreed upon business travel revenue goals by soliciting national and local accounts. Meet small room-only wedding clients planning needs through active communication and team leadership, responsible for soliciting new group, business transient, and social catering sales accounts, entertaining and maintaining relationships with existing and new accounts to meet and exceed revenue goals in rooms, food, beverage and room rental segments.

Responsibilities

  • Solicit new and existing group and social catering accounts to meet and exceed revenue goals through telephone prospecting, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication.
  • Produce business transient revenue through directly soliciting business via aggressive prospecting, making presentations, meeting guests, holding events, developing contracts, negotiating and closing sales.
  • Understanding of both monthly forecasting and the annual budget process, as well as pace and productivity.
  • Experience evaluating every group, catering and business transient business opportunity to maximize revenue and profitability while achieving customer expectations
  • Participate in researching the competition's products, services and pricing and use it to develop strategic business plans
  • Maximize revue by selling all facets of the hotel to previous, current and potential clients, including room rental, AV and other revenue generation opportunities.
  • Thorough knowledge of sales techniques including strong closing skills as well as negotiating skills
  • Experience selling to a variety of market segments
  • Consistently book repeat business by having a track record of long term client relationships
  • Actively participate in community/civic activities to maintain awareness within community and to create booking opportunities.
  • Knowledge of sales techniques including closing skills as well as negotiating skills.
  • Implement effective methods to ensure exceeding small room-block only wedding clients' satisfaction.
  • Monitor group room blocks and pick up, generate detailed resumes for the operating departments
  • Some experience utilizing creative skills to provide innovative set-ups, minus, and functions for groups. Ability to generate creative and innovative minus while working closely with the Executive Chef and other management on pricing specialty menus
  • Experience providing A/V equipment and operating A/V and a profit center.
  • Knowledge of market trends, competition and key hotel customers
  • Ability to work with outside vendors to ensure client satisfaction for all events/groups
  • Maximize revenue by selling all facets of the hotel, both orally and in written form to previous, current and potential clients.
  • Handle account details so that all pertinent aspects of solicitation and closing are complete and documented. Coordinate various departments' participation in servicing accounts.
  • Develop and conduct persuasive verbal sales presentations to prospective clients.
  • Prepare information for, meet with and entertain clients as deemed appropriate by potential business from that account
  • Communicate both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction al all department in the hotel to ensure high quality of service to customers
  • Prepare correspondence to customer, internal booking reports and file maintenance
  • Participate in daily business review meetings, resume meetings, pre-convention meetings, training and other sales-related meetings as requires.
  • Attend trade shows, community events and industry meetings
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis
  • Perform any other job related duties as assigned

    Qualifications

      • High School or equivalent educating required, Bachelor's degree preferred
      • 1 plus years of past sales experience preferred
      • Essential prior experience in the field of hospitality with specific experience in group and catering sales. Prefer experience in Business Transient sales
      • Must have experience at a similar size and quality hotel
      • Requires good commination skills, both verbal and written. Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English. Must possess computer skills, including, but not limited to, use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and be able to learn hotel computer systems quickly.
      • Hyatt Envision experience is preferred by not mandatory
      • Knowledge of sales skills, revenue management, training, and motivation of peers
      • Ability to execute appropriate planning for small room-only wedding blocks
      • Ability to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines
      • Ability to adapt to different communication styles to suit different audiences, such as effectively communicating with supervisors, coworkers, public, etc.
      • Knowledge of hotel features, benefits, and competing hotels within the market
      • Ability to write and execute appropriate action plans
      • Advanced knowledge of market trends, competition and key customers of the hotel.
      • Experience in business travel at a similar sizes and quality hotel is preferred.
