Storyteller Children's Center helps Santa Barbara's homeless and at-risk toddlers and preschoolers achieve kindergarten readiness by providing therapeutic preschool and support services for their families. To learn more about our organization, please visit our website: JOB DESCRIPTIONProgram: Administration: Site Supervisor JOB TITLE(s): Site SupervisorLOCATION: De la VinaREPORTS TO: Executive DirectorLEVEL: Exempt, Salary Position/AdministrationWith competitive health and benefits package, including life insurance, medical, dental, vision and retirementSALARY: Starting Salary $47,150 Annually, DOEBONUS: $1,500 sign-on bonus after 6 months completionSABBATICAL: Two (2) week paid sabbatical after ten (10) continuous years of service POSITION SUMMARY: The Site Supervisor manages the day-to-day operations of Storyteller Children's Center's De la Vina's California State Preschool Program (CSPP), as well as some administrative oversight at the State St. site. The Site Supervisor is responsible for and administers requirements of the CSPP. The Site Supervisor is responsible for scheduling of staff, and maintaining ratios at both sites. The Site Supervisor oversees curriculum development and implementation, program performance standards, policies and procedures, record keeping, and evaluation of the De la Vina site teachers and staff. The Site Supervisor oversees the Food Program. The Site Supervisor and ECE Program Coach oversee licensing and accreditation requirements, as well as maintaining fidelity of curriculum development between the two sites. Storyteller Children's Center will provide any necessary training. EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS: --- BA Degree or higher with a minimum of 12 units in ECE and 3 units supervised field experience in ECE.--- Minimum two year experience in various office functions including typing, filing, answering telephones and completing paperwork.--- Ability to type accurately at 40 WPM.--- Ability to operate word processing equipment and computer terminal to enter and access files and records.--- Ability to maintain detailed clerical records and prepare reports.--- Excellent interpersonal communication skills for effective contact with Executive Director, families---,--- agencies, ---staff and others by telephone or in person.--- Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) preferred.--- Ability to communicate effectively with various community agencies.--- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups or employees of the Agency.--- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent to draw and interpret bar graphs.--- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.--- To perform this position successfully, an individual should have knowledge of contact management systems; internet software; purchase order processing; spreadsheet software and word processing software.--- Must be able to clear Department of Justice fingerprint process.--- Valid California Driver's License.--- Child Development Site Supervisor Permit must be obtained within six (6) months ofemployment.--- Must pass a pre-employment physical examination and tuberculosis clearance.------ Must be able to set up a projector, screen and ---other media materials. --- Ability to safely supervise and handle active 18 months, 2, 3, 4 and 5 year olds whichinvolves but is not limited to: 1) circulating in the classroom and on the playground, 2) ability to run across room or playground to prevent an accident or quickly reach one which has happened, and 3) administering emergency first aid if necessary.--- Knowledge of the needs of low-income, minority, and children with disabilities and theavailability of community services and resources to meet their needs.--- Ability to maintain a pleasant, responsive, constructive attitude towards the children, parents and staff; understands the goals and needs of the children in the program and establishes good working relationships with families of participants.--- Ability to express and demonstrate early childhood practices.--- Experience working with children with disabilities desirable.--- Support the Storyteller Children's Center philosophy, goals and objectives.--- Must hold or obtain a First Aid and CPR card and update as required.--- Using own transportation, must be able to travel to different locations.--- Support and understand the requirements of CSPP and Storyteller Children's Center. POSITION CHARACTERISTICS --- Energetic, hands-on, enthusiastic, results-oriented leader, who adds significant value toStoryteller Children's Center(s).--- Leads teachers and staff in the effective day-to-day operations of the organization. Strong follow-through required.--- Prepares correspondence, document invoices, including materials and reports--- (may need to provide reports to the Executive Director).------ Using computer system---s, enters and maintains data for CSPP.--- May be involved in interviewing, hiring, and training employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems in conjunction with the Executive Director.--- Ensures daily that the overall program quality offered at the site adheres to all State laws and licensing regulations, and CSPP policies and procedures.--- The Site Supervisor participates in the development of educational programming and ensures that teachers and staff understand and are trained in the implementation of the program performance standards. Guides, monitors and ensures that performance standards are implemented.--- Responsible for documentation and tracking on the appropriate instrument(s) and form(s) to ensure all program requirements are met in the mandated time frame as per program performance standards. Responsible for ensuring that all staff document and track activities as required. Maintains current record-keeping systems with adequate provisions for confidentiality. --- Plans and conducts staff meetings. Meetings should include training, site issues, family studies (case conferencing) and planning. Responsible for program development.--- May be required to substitute in a classroom to ensure appropriate staffing ratios aremaintained when substitutes are not available. Must ensure that all ratios are being met, per each site's requirements. Must maintain schedules of teachers and implement appropriate changes when necessary as a result of callouts.--- Monitors instruction to ensure that the educational curriculum is developmentallyappropriate and focused on the needs of the individual child. Assists teachers and staff in the acquisition of knowledge and skills for effectively delivering a developmentally appropriate curriculum, including the CA Foundations and Framework.--- The Site Supervisor is responsible for maintaining and monitoring the screening and ongoing assessment of children as required by the program performance standards.--- The Site Supervisor oversees, directs and manages the review and quality of the Lesson Plans, portfolios, and other paperwork as required.--- Participates in community collaborations.--- Oversees a bilingual, multicultural, anti-bias curriculum designed to meet development needs within program guidelines.--- Supervises the classroom environment consistent with development performance standards.--- Ensures that we maintain a physically safe environment, as well as provides suggestions regarding organizing classroom space, equipment, and learning materials.--- Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, with clients and teachers, parents, organizations, children and staff. Must be able to maintain good working relationships with teachers, administration and staff.--- Attends regular staff meetings and curriculum planning meetings.--- The Site Supervisor oversees and guides teachers on narrative records for each child on their development, including: anecdotal records, IEP/Profile assessments, Lesson Plans, referrals, and documentation of home visits and parent conferences.--- Provides daily on-going communication to the Executive Director.--- Ensures that all required paperwork from teachers is accurate and timely.--- Oversees the CACFP Food Program.--- Manages and remains responsible to ensure that time cards are accurate and completed on time for all employees.--- While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to walk,and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
