We are seeking a full-time Science Liaison to expand the reach and
impact of science produced at NCEAS and support COMPASS s work to
champion, connect, and support diverse science leaders to improve
the well-being of people and nature. You will be embedded within
and based at NCEAS in Santa Barbara, CA and will be responsible
for: observing and connecting with the range of research underway
at NCEAS; coaching and training NCEAS-affiliated scientists to
strategically communicate and engage with society around salient
environmental topics; and working closely with the COMPASS team to
provide additional support and opportunities for NCEAS-affiliated
scientists to connect with journalists, policymakers, and other
audiences. By acting as a liaison among COMPASS, NCEAS, and NCEAS
working groups, you will support scientists to amplify the impact
of their research, reach key audiences across a diversity of
contexts and geographic scales, and ultimately help to realize the
potential of science to create a better future.

You will work closely with Ben Halpern (Director) and leadership
team at NCEAS and Estelle Robichaux and other team members at
COMPASS, and integrated into both organizations, with opportunities

RESIDENCY AT NCEAS: NCEAS is located in scenic downtown Santa
Barbara, California. The Center is known for fostering interaction
and collaboration, characteristics that lead to the success of its
visiting scientists. NCEAS has a growing and thriving community of
postdocs, resident scientists, and analysts, and frequent influx of
leading scientists and practitioners from around the world
participating in working group projects.
WORKING WITH COMPASS: COMPASS is a distributed organization with
offices in Portland, OR and Washington, D.C. As a pioneer in the
science communication field, COMPASS has provided thousands of
environmental scientists with the knowledge, skills, and networks
they need to strategically engage and inspire solutions to some of
society s greatest challenges. Our work is built around the idea
that scientists are the best people to share what they know, and
that when scientists communicate effectively, they can change the

TERM OF APPOINTMENT: This position is funded for 2 years, with the
possibility of extension pending further grant funding and
evaluation of performance.
SALARY AND BENEFITS: This full-time Academic Coordinator I position
has a starting salary range of $55-57K/yr, as well as a
