We are accepting applications to fill current vacancies for the
position of Utility Clerk, Departmental in the Social Services and
Probation Departments. There is one (1) vacancy located in Santa
Barbara for the Social Services Department AND one (1) vacancy
located in All Locations for the Probation Department. Applicants
interested in the Probation Departmentmust be available and willing
to work at All Locations throughout the County. Applicants may
select the department(s) of interest in the Supplemental
Questionnaire section of the job application.
We are also establishing a list for future vacancies in the Social
Services, Probation, and Public Health Departments throughout the

BENEFITS OVERVIEW:
Position: Under general supervision, delivers mail and supplies to
departmental facilities; performs storekeeping and inventory
maintenance, and minor maintenance repair duties; and performs a
variety of related duties as required.

Ability to: Read and carry out written and oral instructions; learn
storeroom and inventory control procedures; learn to make minor
building maintenance repairs; maintain computerized records,
reports, and forms; pay attention to detail; learn to operate
office equipment and hand tools; learn a variety of routine duties;
write simple notes; observe safe work and driving practices; learn
to operate fork lift; and maintain good working relationships with
staff and the public.
Supplemental Information
Working Conditions: Incumbents in some positions may be exposed to
a variety of hazardous and/or unpleasant field conditions,
including wet, rainy, cold or hot weather, vermin, and exposure to
chemicals. Work in some positions may require various types of
physical exertion, such as: prolonged bending, stooping and
lifting; carrying and moving heavy objects such as refrigerators,
sofa beds and appliances over uneven surfaces, such as down
staircases and through narrow hallways; lifting heavy items above
and below shoulder height; walking, standing, and reaching,
sometimes for extended periods. APPLICATION & SELECTION
PROCESS:
The Public Health Department (PHD) requires all employees working
in direct contact with patients or clients in a high-risk
environment to comply with the PHD Employee Immunizations policy.
This can be accomplished by providing documentation of
immunizations, submitting laboratory immune titers demonstrating
adequate immunity, or obtaining required vaccinations. A list of
requirements, based on the specific program, will be sent at the
time an offer letter is presented to the selected candidate(s) and
initial documentation will be required at this time.
Disaster Service Worker: Pursuant to Governmental Code section
3100, all employees with the County of Santa Barbara are declared
to be disaster service workers subject to such disaster service.
Activities as may be assigned to them by their superiors or by
law.

subject to State Health Officer Orders (SHOOs) or County policy
