POSITION SUMMARY:
The Helper/Residential works together with the Driver to support
the activities in the collection of waste, green and recyclable
material on designated routes.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
--- Ride along with Driver to assist in collection of refuse on
assigned route.
--- Ability to safely operate the garbage truck controls.
--- Manually or mechanically load and empty residential containers
into truck.
--- Assists the Driver with ALL backing maneuvers.
--- Service anywhere from 300-500 carts of solid waste, green
waste, or recycling material. Pushing, pulling, lifting & dumping
carts throughout the day to complete route. Walking while handling
cart is a major component of the day & requires physical ability,
endurance, pace & great attitude to safely perform job.
--- Interacts with all customers, dispatch, and others on a daily
basis to ensure all customer routes are serviced in a timely and
professional manner.
--- Communicates with dispatchers concerning carts not out, vehicle
blocking access, contaminated green and recycle and overloads.
--- Develop and maintain a professional demeanor with
customers.
--- Assists in maintaining a safe and clean truck.
--- Ensuring Health and Safety is the number one priority by
complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and
acting in a safe manner at all times
--- Performs pre- and post-operation inspection and complete the
VCR (Vehicle Condition Report) book for the assigned vehicle in
accordance with Company policy.
--- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to

One year of general labor experience.
Class C license with clean driving record.
Ability to perform a physically demanding job, loading and
unloading.
Must have ability to understand and complete route sheets and
dispatch tickets.
Must have ability to read and interpret maps.
Perform solid waste refuse collection and disposal tasks with
minimal supervision.
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.

Ability to withstand all types of weather conditions.
EDUCATION
Less than high school education; or one year of general labor
experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and
experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS and OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Valid Class C license
Clean driving record
Must be at least 24 - years of age
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and write English, interpret documents such as
safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure
manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. They
should also be able to speak English effectively before groups of
customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of
measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratios, and percent and to draw and
interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out
instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to
deal with problems involving several concrete variables in
standardized situations.

protective outfits, like gloves, safety footwear, and hardhat.
