What You'll Do

Enable a culture of performance excellence supported by a competitive and compelling benefits package while providing personable, world-class support to all clients.

Open Enrollment

* Play a key role in the planning and execution of Open Enrollment for all benefit programs in order to support employees' enrollment in benefits
* Participate in relevant discussions to ensure benefit investment areas are informed by employee listening, our culture, company goals and industry practices
* Partner with Manager, Benefits to evaluate vendor partnerships to ensure an upleveled employee benefits experience

Wellbeing

* Manage coordination of wellbeing initiatives and/or AppFolio Learns sessions to enable learning and promotion of our benefits
* Partner with Workplace Services, L&D and Communications to coordinate a unified wellbeing calendar of events
* Provide relevant information to assist L&D with the distribution of post-session surveys to determine effectiveness of sessions
* Collaborate with HR Communications & Programs Manager to market and increase visibility around wellbeing offerings

Leaves of Absence

* Assume ownership of the leave of absence programs offered to AppFolians
* Conduct 1:1 employee leave of absence sessions
* Partner with Payroll to process paid leave benefits
* Understand and stay up to date with laws, regulations, and policies related to leaves of absence.

Subject Matter Expert on Benefits Systems

* Serve as an integral and hands-on partner during all stages of HCM transition
* Leverage current process documentation and expertise to inform decisions on future-state HCM and benefits systems
* Execute new business process in HCM in order to maintain/up-level essential benefits and leaves of absence processes, maximize efficiency across the Benefits team, and provide valuable support across the organization
* Partner with Payroll, HRBPs, and other stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition of current processes to future-state processes

Benefits Administration

* Ensure legal/governmental compliance of all AppFolio Benefit Plans
* Variable hour employee ACA measurements
* Review Employee Handbook and legal documents and determine if any additional language is necessary
* Coordinate benefits administrative and investment review quarterly meetings
* Act as point of contact for employees, HR team, and plan participants for benefits questions and guidance. Escalates complex situations to appropriate partner.
* Administer all Company-sponsored retirement and health & welfare plans including life, health, dental, and disability insurances, retirement plans, and leaves of absence.
* Ensure records are accurate, current and compliant.

What We're Looking For

* Discretion & Confidentiality: Ability to exercise discretion, judgment, tact and poise in handling highly sensitive and confidential information.
* Autonomous: Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage a wide variety of projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
* Analytical Skills: Ability to collect and analyze information, problem-solve, and make recommendations or decisions.
* Excel & Presentations Wizardry: Advanced Excel user and proficiency in using the G-Suite and MS suite of products, such as Google Docs and Presentations.
* Project management: Organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to navigate in a fast-paced & performance-oriented environment,
* Compliance: Advanced understanding of Rewards regulations, market trends, and program design, as well as legislation that may affect policies/practices, including ACA, ERISA, COBRA and other applicable Department of Labor (DOL) and/or tax laws.

Must-Haves

* Minimum of 3 years experience working in corporate benefits administration and communication. Tech industry/ SaaS industry experience preferred.
* Experience with annual benefits cycles, providing guidance on the design, development and administration of programs, communications, tools / systems to support them and measuring their effectiveness.
* Experience working within a center of excellence (COE) environment, including delivering products and support to HR Business Partners and Talent Acquisition.
* Advanced understanding of Rewards regulations, market trends, and program design, as well as legislation that may affect policies/practices, including ACA, ERISA, COBRA and other applicable Department of Labor (DOL) and/or tax laws. Experience with SOX is a plus.
* Must be proficient in Human Resource Information Systems. Experience with Workday is a plus. Working knowledge of Payroll and/or Finance systems desired.
* Bachelor's degree required. Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation preferred.
