Carpe Data harnesses the power of emerging and alternative data for insurance carriers around the globe. Through access to continuous monitoring and predictive scoring, insurers gain deeper insight into risks in real-time which can significantly enhance many aspects of the insurance life cycle including underwriting, claims, and book assessment.

Carpe Data is located in the heart of downtown Santa Barbara. Employees are currently working from home for the foreseeable future. This role will be recruited virtually and can remain remote full time and will incur regular travel (50%) as travel becomes more acceptable.

What You Will Do

Reporting to the CRO, an Account Executive is a proven top performer, an individual contributor, a skilled closer, and an effective collaborator. Experience selling in the insurance space and/or a background in insurance or data sales is a strong fit for this role. We are a high-growth company looking for someone who is excited to contribute to that growth. The ideal candidate has an evolving mindset to keep up with an expanding and evolving Product line.

This is a full-cycle sales position where you will prospect, nurture, and close, and cross-sell. Our sales cycles can be anywhere from 6 to 24 months. You must be able to patiently move deals through our sales cycle as quickly as possible while maintaining excitement.


  • Exceeds Quota/Ensures Predictable Revenue: The Account Executive develops and drives business opportunities in current and new business accounts to surpass the revenue target (annual
  • Creates Account Strategies: The Account Executive knows how to use provided tools to build and execute an account plan.
  • Product Mastery: Learns Carpe Data solutions inside and out and how they are best utilized by insurance carriers. There are no cookie-cutter deals; mastery of product use-cases allows the Account Executive to pitch the right product combinations to ensure a close.
  • Time Management/Priority Setting: Takes personal responsibility to identify and stay on the path to success (planning, forecasting, critical measures, reconnoitering, etc.). Optimize use of time to focus on, nurture, and close new business.
  • Vigilantly Communicates: Communicates account status, next steps, and concerns effectively and efficiently.
  • Utilizes Team Members: The successful Account Executive knows when to utilize fellow team members to help with moving a deal toward closure.
  • Timely Updates of Sales Status: Utilize Hubspot in an accurate and timely manner. Accurate pipeline forecasting is critical to an Account Executive's success.

    Our Ideal Candidate
    • BS or BA required
    • 3+ years of quota-carrying experience
    • Experience closing $100K+ deals and hitting/exceeding quota of $1M+
    • On-target earnings of $225K - $300K+
    • Our sales cycles can be anywhere from 6 to 24 months. You must be able to move deals through our sales cycle as quickly as possible while maintaining our value
    • Sales training a plus
    • Strong communicator and story teller and comfortable communicating with c-level executives
    • High Attention to detail
    • Thrives in a fast-paced environment and goal-focused sales
