Job Description Summary

The Systems Engineer is overall technical expert within the organization responsible for the design and operation of the agency's data centers and hosted infrastructure, including server, network, storage, security and Cloud based technologies. This position designs, deploys, oversees and maintains all on-premises, hosted or cloud infrastructure technologies needs of VNA Health. The position contributes to the larger responsibility of the IT department to ensure the alignment of the organizations technology strategy and priorities with the goals and objectives of the agency. The position respects and promotes the mission, vision and values of the organization.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities
Architects, implements and manages the server, network and storage infrastructure and datacenter projects throughout the organization.
Designs and manages a fully virtualized environment of Windows servers in a multi-datacenter configuration.
Designs and implements automated management and monitoring of the infrastructure and services the organization uses. Provides metrics and performance reports with respect to each service.
Performs in-depth analysis of system performance and planning and summarize the results for varying audiences, from organizational and outside technical partners through to senior-level management.
Implements and maintains server infrastructure security and authentication and authorization and single-sign-on systems.
Responds to system audits and supports periodic penetration tests.
Performs planning, risk assessment, and documentation following procedures, best practices, and ensuring systems availability.
Maintains systems by managing product and capabilities roadmaps; establishing and following maintenance procedures; and working with vendors and other staff to perform regular maintenance.
Manages configurations and the deployment of the organizations network and server infrastructure in compliance with established best practices within the health care industry.
Designs, leads and documents disaster recovery (DR) planning, implementation and testing.
Provides guidance and education to Help Desk and junior engineering staff.
Manages outside expert-level infrastructure contracting firms to complete complex projects.
Available for evening and weekend on call rotation.

All staff are expected to participate as needed in variable shifts, including weekend rotation per staffing needs and departmental holiday rotation.

Position Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related technical degree or technical experience may be substituted for the Bachelor's Degree.
Five years of relevant and specialized systems engineering experience demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility and technical expertise in a corporate enterprise environment and solving problems as the highest level of escalation for systems and systems security issues.
Experience with on premise infrastructure, specifically Microsoft technologies (Replication, Trusts, GPOs, etc.), VMware, storage, Cisco, network ports and protocols, and DNS.
In-depth experience performing capacity planning and configuration assessments for server hardware, storage area networking, systems, DR and replication processes, and supporting infrastructure.
Experience with Cloud applications such as Office 365, Azure and Google Apps.
Manage configurations and the deployment of systems in compliance with established business practices.
Experience in devising technical solutions that will enhance performance, increase redundancy, and add flexibility to the existing infrastructure.
Strong written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to present information in compelling and persuasive manner.
Strong interpersonal skills, with polished presentation.
Licensed driver with insured automobile - in accordance with state and/or organization requirements.

Ability to walk one mile.
Ability to sit for one hour, minimum.
