Position Overview

The Vice President, Human Resources will join the senior management team, reporting directly to the COO/CFO. The ideal candidate will be able to effectively anticipate, manage, and communicate the traditional responsibilities of human resources policies and practices for the entire company, participate in the development of strategic goals and creative initiatives that align and support our organizational vision for 125 team members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible and accountable for managing HR operational strategies, employment law, employee relations, recruiting, conflict resolution, performance management, training and employee development, compensation, benefits, workers compensation, leave of absence management, organizational effectiveness, HRIS, payroll, policies and procedures, and company safety and health programs.
  • Establish compensation and performance appraisal programs and practices, employee benefit programs, analyze trends and monitor effectiveness to remain competitive and contain costs.
  • Identify and implement programs to effectively recruit and retain qualified team members, identify improvements, efficiencies, and training opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and reporting requirements.
  • Oversee companys OSHA compliance and participate in risk management.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop HR, training and development, and corporate services staff, including job expectations and constructive feedback.

  • Ability to strategically align HR programs to the companys vision.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal laws.
  • Address and resolve HR issues directly and successfully.
  • A demonstrated ability to ask appropriate questions that uncover underlying issues.

  • Ability to change tasks and adapt to new priorities.
  • Maintain and demonstrate a point of view that anticipates positive outcomes.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8+ years of in a senior level position.
  • A track record of success leading company-changing employee-related initiatives, DEI initiatives, and organizational development.
  • Experience with remote working setup and/or theory about remote work.
  • Broad familiarity with HR best practices, legal, compliance, and employment law.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment, wage and salary laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to comfortably handle difficult conversations.
  • Superior communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to establish strong relationships at all levels and across the organization and cross-functionally.

What You Bring

  • Progressive leadership experience in HR or Operations related functions.
  • Experience in Organization Design and Development.
  • Experience working with executive staff.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Generalist skills and experience in all major HR categories.
  • Demonstrated leadership of teams and organizations directly and indirectly.
  • Project and Program management experience.
  • Strategic planning and financial management.
  • Professional certifications such as PHR-CA/SPHR-CA, SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP highly desired.
  • Experience in the Multifamily Property Management industry a plus.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite, HRIS, performance and compensation management software.
  • Clear Company, ADP, PayScale software experience highly desirable.
