Job Description GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: This position is responsible for the provision of accounting supervision and to support management in ensuring delivery of the Clinic's financial operations in accordance with the mission, vision and values of the organization. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervise the day to day operations with a primary focus on Accounts Payable and General Accounting functions. Supervise and delegate staff work assignments including; invoice payments; weekly and daily check runs; month end closings, and 1099 processing. Manage daily cash flow and complete cash transfers to bank accounts as required. Responsible for monthly General Ledger Closings and making sure all journal entries are appropriate and have been completed. Assists Manager with journal entriy review, bank reconciliation, and postings on a monthly basis to make sure they are accurate and correctly posted. Makes sure that Balance Sheet accounts are all periodically reconciled and agrees to the General Ledger. Provides data to support account analysis. Delivers documentation to support monthly financial statement package. Responsible for preparation distribution, collection, and upload of revenue budget schedules. Interfaces closely with external auditors and reviews all prepared audit schedules for the audit staff. Establishes and implements standards Sansum Clinic goals, objectives, policies, procedures and systems. Sets professional example for staff adhering to Sansum Clinic policies and procedures. Enforces guidelines for prioritizing work activities, evaluating effectiveness and modifying activities as necessary. Ensures that work areas are staffed appropriately. Identifies, analyzes and resolves work problems. Handles all other duties that are consistent and required for the position. Assists in the recruiting, hiring, orientation, development and evaluation of staff. Approves employee timecards and reports leaves to Human Resources. Prepares and administers annual performance evaluations to staff. Participates in fiscal viability of Sansum Clinic by evaluating processes, looking at staffing and department purchases. Participates in departmental staff meetings as well as management meetings. Completes special projects as assigned. Works as a team player supporting a variety of staff. Displays a caring and responsive attitude and conducts all activities respecting patient, family and employee rights and expectations. Demonstrates sound cost containment techniques. Adheres to established safety requirements and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Maintains and evaluates own clinical expertise and practice. Recognizes legal and policy limits of individual practice. Maintains certification and license requirements and submits required evidence of certification/licensure as needed. Adheres to all policies and procedures. Regular attendance is an essential job function. Completes annual performance and competency evaluation process with management and participates in goal setting, performance improvement and educational training as needed. Participates in department quality improvement, clinic safety, infection control and hazardous materials programs/activities. Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations. Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested. Adheres to HIPAA regulations. Exercises discretion and maintains high level of confidentiality. Performs related work as required. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSURE: Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting required Five years previous supervisory experience in an Accounting department preferred. A minimum of three years experience in the Finance department of a health care provider preferred. Thorough knowledge of GAAP, Accounts Payable processes, accounting regulations and audit standards is required. Critical decision making skills and knowledge of computer accounting systems are required.
