The role of the Project Engineer is to work collaboratively and
interdependently and as a team member on a wide range of Community
Development projects under the guidance of a Project Manager. Our
Community Development team also works with and supports projects
from other disciplines in the local area and is part of a team that
works on projects across the western US.
A Project Civil Engineer will perform a variety of tasks which
may include design analysis, calculations, preparation of exhibits,
mentoring jr. staff, and preparation of construction documents. The
projects that you will be assigned to may be broad, varied, and
diverse in scope. This position may be based out of one of our
offices in Santa Barbara, Santa Maria, and Thousand Oaks, CA.
Your Key Responsibilities
Serve as the technical lead for the project team responsible for
preparing, grading, drainage, wet utility, street improvements, and
other civil engineering design documents.
Prepare and revise documentation for various project phases from
feasibility analysis to construction close out.
Coordinate with geomatics team and obtain appropriate record
data required to assemble complete and accurate base
Prepare concept design alternatives considering site constraints
and project objectives to evolve the project layout.
Prepare three-dimensional models of civil systems and provide
markups/direction for junior engineers/designers.
Participate in coordination meetings with internal team members
and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, subcontractors,

Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering.
Licensed Professional Engineer.
Minimum of 7 years of experience.
Local project resume and experience strongly preferred.
- Experience in directing junior staff in the execution of
project deliverables is preferred.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining
sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure
to the elements including inclement weather.
