Salary: $33.00 Hourly

$33.70 Hourly Bilingual Spanish/English, when applicable

All County of Santa Barbara employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law (California Government Code Section 3100-3109). Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees hired into this position will be mandated Disaster Service Workers.

The County of Santa Barbara is currently accepting applications to fill temporary short-term vacancies for multiple locations within the County in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. These positions are classified as Extra-Help Appointments (Civil Service Rule 905), and are defined as appointments made to a non-regular, non-permanent position(s) established on a temporary basis to meet peak loads, unusual work situations, seasonal and recurrent work, intermittent assignments, or emergencies.

Public Health has an immediate need for two (2) EMTs, LVNs or higher-level clinicians to serve as medical staff at Covid-19 Vaccination Clinics at all County locations.


The IDEAL CANDIDATE will have:

  • Strong initiative, accountability, and solid work ethic,
  • Effective communication skills,
  • Strong problem-solving skills to quickly and effectively solve issues,
  • Excellent customer service skills.

There is no remote-work option for this position.

The incumbent will be fully fitted with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and trained into this position. Examples of Duties

  • Monitor patients post-vaccine for reactions
  • Educate patients regarding potential side effects and reminder of 2nd vaccination dose [21-28 days]
  • Administer Epi-Pen per standardized procedure, as needed
  • Support other medical staff and clinicians at vaccination sites
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Employment Standards

Possession of a valid medical license, such as EMTs, Paramedics, LVNs, or higher level clinicians.

A list of requirements, based on the specific program, will be sent at the time an offer letter is presented to the selected candidate(s) and initial documentation will be required at this time.
