All County of Santa Barbara employees are designated Disaster
Service Workers through state and local law (California Government
Code Section 3100-3109). Employment with the County requires the
affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees hired into
this position will be mandated Disaster Service Workers.
The County of Santa Barbara is currently accepting applications
to fill temporary short-term vacancies for multiple locations
within the County in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. These
positions are classified as Extra-Help Appointments (Civil Service
Rule 905), and are defined as appointments made to a non-regular,
non-permanent position(s) established on a temporary basis to meet
peak loads, unusual work situations, seasonal and recurrent work,
intermittent assignments, or emergencies.

Public Health has an immediate need for two (2) EMTs, LVNs or
higher-level clinicians to serve as medical staff at Covid-19
Vaccination Clinics at all County locations.
The IDEAL CANDIDATE will have:
- Strong initiative, accountability, and solid work ethic,
- Effective communication skills,
- Strong problem-solving skills to quickly and effectively solve
- Excellent customer service skills.
There is no remote-work option for this position.
The incumbent will be fully fitted with Personal Protective
Equipment (PPE) and trained into this position. Examples of
- Monitor patients post-vaccine for reactions
- Educate patients regarding potential side effects and reminder
of 2nd vaccination dose [21-28 days]
- Administer Epi-Pen per standardized procedure, as needed
- Support other medical staff and clinicians at vaccination
- Other related duties as assigned.
Possession of a valid medical license, such as EMTs, Paramedics,
LVNs, or higher level clinicians.
