Gildred Family YMCA - Santa Ynez, CAPosition TypePart TimeSalary Range$14.00 - $18.00 HourlyDescriptionWhat do Lifeguards do?Responsibilities include supervising the aquatics area while facilities are in use, and promoting and maintaining a safe, secure and organized pool area. We are seeking responsible individuals who are capable of working alone or in big groups. Maintain all areas in and around aquatic area. Keeping within the policies, philosophies and mission set forth by the Channel Islands YMCA associationEnforce and educate members about aquatic rules and procedures set forth by branch.Wash deck, maintain cleanliness and keep pool deck clear of any obstructions.Maintain constant surveillance of water and pool deck areas by 10-10 scanning.Assist swimmers in distressProvide emergency medical assistance as to trained to any person on the YMCA premise as necessaryTake and record chemical readings set forth by BranchAttend mandatory staff meetings and in-servicesWhat we look for in a Lifeguard ... Minimum 18 years of ageCurrent YMCA or Red Cross Lifeguard Certification (must crossover to YMCA certifications within 6 Months)Current CPR PRO/AED and must be from one of the following certifying organizations: American Red Cross, American Heart Association or American Safety & Health Institute.Current First Aid certification and must be from one of the following certifying organization: American Red Cross, American Heart Association or American Safety & Health Institute.Current O2 certification and must be from one of the following certifying organization: American Red Cross, American Heart Association or American Safety & Health Institute.Must pass written and practical skills exam prior to dutyMust have visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents, and the physical ability to act swiftly in emergency situationsAbility to adequately observe participant activities, enforce safety regulations and apply appropriate policies and procedures.EMPLOYEE BENEFITS FOR PART-TIME EMPLOYEES:RETIREMENT: All employees are eligible to participate in the tax-deferred savings plan by opening a 403(b) Smart Account.SICK TIME: Part-time employees earn 1 hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked, after 90 day intro period.DISCOUNTS: All staff are offered discounts on Aquatics programs, Sports programs, Youth & Adult Fitness programs, Afterschool and School's Out Childcare, Summer Day Camp and Date Night & Misc.
