The Director , Corporate Communications is a vital member of the
AppFolio Communications team and is responsible for AppFolio
corporate communications programs.
As Director , Corporate Communications, you will play an
important role in building and maintaining the AppFolio brand by
executing on strategy and logistics to support corporate
initiatives including strategic internal communications, preserving
and growing AppFolio’s award-winning culture through program
strategy, company positioning and messaging, and acting as editor
and copywriter for internal and public-facing corporate

communicate those issues to executives, media, and employees in
both oral and written forms.
As a successful Director , Corporate Communications, you’re a
passionate storyteller with strong experience in developing and
executing company-wide communications strategy and tactics;
conceptualizing, writing and editing communications, and managing
media. Your curiosity shines through as you seek out stories that
define AppFolio. You create engaging and memorable messages that
connect with audiences. You can crisply summarize key ideas in
writing and in person, to both executives and employees, keeping
all the details in line and on time, yet you never lose sight of
the big picture goals.
This position will report to the VP, Communications, and is
based at our headquarters in Santa Barbara, CA. We’re looking for
someone to join our team immediately.
What You’ll Do:
Create a communications strategy that engages employees, future
employees, sponsors, the media, and investors, and supports major
corporate cross-functional initiatives. Partner with communicators
across the company to ensure communication strategies and
initiatives are aligned.
Develop solutions to help AppFolio leaders communicate the
company’s strategy to their teams and the wider AppFolio audience
including the press, local sponsors, and investors.
Manage all company-wide and select executive-level meetings,
delivering agendas, concepts, and working with stakeholders to
deliver final presentations.
Develop, write, and edit communications for senior executives,
including emails, social media posts, and internal and external
communications. Develop creative strategies for communicating to
employees and industry partners, taking advantage of an executive’s
unique voice and the needs of different audiences.
Support the work of cross-functional teams (Marketing, Legal,
HR, and Facilities) to create strategic communications, develop
innovative ways to engage employees that are in tune with
AppFolio’s culture, write communications, business update
presentations, and talking points.
Plan the frequency and channel of communication and coordinate
stakeholders across different areas of the business and the

support corporate functions including Investor Relations, company
meetings, and events
Manage all corporate culture and brand awareness programs
including awards, recruitment marketing, and culture events.
Project manage internal communications strategic plans, taking

Preferred Skills and Knowledge:
BS/BA in PR, communications, marketing or related discipline
10+ years of communications experience, including strategic,
investor relations, executive, and internal communications.
Exceptional storytelling skills.
Experience writing for and working directly with CEOs, SVPs, and
other senior executives; ability to earn trust with senior
Experience working in a B2B SaaS environment
Ability to take ownership of your role and take initiative to
find opportunities, develop plans that inspire others, and ensure
execution through measured results
Ability to engage in productive disagreements that encourage
openness, collaboration, and healthy debate.
Experience successfully building and leading diverse teams .
A substantial portfolio including press releases, presentations,
and strategic writing (portfolio review required)
