Storyteller Children's Center helps Santa Barbara's homeless and at-risk toddlers and preschoolers achieve kindergarten readiness by providing therapeutic preschool and support services for their families. We are seeking a Senior Development Coordinator. To learn more about our organization, please visit our website: Job Description JOB TITLE(s): - Senior Development Coordinator LOCATION: - State Street REPORTS TO: -Executive Director LEVEL: - $63,750 starting, DOE With competitive health and benefits package, including life insurance, medical, dental, vision and retirement $750 sign on bonus after 6 months completion POSITION SUMMARY: - The Senior Development Coordinator is responsible for administrative operations of the development department, including donor cultivation and stewardship activities, gift processing, donor acknowledgment, donor database, event planning and volunteer coordination. Performs assigned duties related to fundraising and administration. Responsibilities include coordinating with the Executive Director, Board members, Major Gifts Officer and Grant Writer for data management and events planning. Work is performed independently and requires the employee to be able to schedule, supervise, and set priorities. Performance is based upon completion of assignments and results obtained. This position reports to the Executive Director. This position is a full-time position. EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS: Bachelor's degree or an equivalent of experience and education. Minimum three years related work experience in general area of fundraising, donor cultivation and stewardship, and research and proposals. Event planning experience desired. Enthusiasm for Storyteller's purpose and mission are essential. Outstanding managerial skills. Highly organized and motivated. Exceptional written and oral communication, by phone, and in person. Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills. Proven organizational ability with strong attention to detail and accuracy. Must be reliable, responsible and flexible. Passion, enthusiasm, focus, creativity, and a positive outlook. Ability to multi-task, manage priorities and work under pressure and meet deadlines. Ability to work with a variety of people. Ability to develop and maintain effective work relationships. Ability to motivate volunteers. Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees. Excellent computer skills with a mastery of Apple operating systems, Windows, and Microsoft Office suite and Google Apps. Donor Perfect skills desired. Experience in web development, and experience with Photoshop preferred. Must be able to set up projector, screen and other media materials. Must be able to clear Department of Justice fingerprint process. Must pass a pre-employment physical examination and tuberculosis clearance. Must complete required Storyteller trainings (including an Introductory Child Development course). -- - - POSITION CHARACTERISTICS: The following reflects management's definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. *Development Department: Manages the development department. Meets with Executive Director on a weekly basis. Creates and implements the development plan, budget and goals for the organization, in conjunction with the Executive Director and Major Gifts Officer. Stays within approved budget. Provides regular standing reports and ad hoc reports as needed. Provides support and works in public relations. Mails flyers and other correspondence to potential donors, volunteers and guests in order to inform them of events and activities. Ensures proper donor activity tracking in database, including contact information, notes, major gift call reports, event attendance, movers management stages and volunteer engagement. Keeps and maintains confidentiality on donor reports, files and confidential records. Accepts and records donations in the form of cash, checks, or charges, all of which must be recorded in the database. Process and acknowledge gifts in a timely and IRS compliant manner. Ensures all media (facebook, website, advertising campaigns, etc.) is current. Schedules all Open Houses on a monthly basis. Performs basic administrative duties such as filing, data entry, maintaining a filing system and more. Responds to telephone questions and inquiries from visitors. Orders supplies, such as letterhead, posters, flyers, pamphlets, board badges. Performs other duties as requested. Grants: Grants: works with the Grant Writer to ensure that current and relevant information is recorded in the grant tracking matrix. Finalizes foundation reports and correspondence. Major Gifts: Works with the Executive Director and Major Gifts Officer to ensure that the Major Gifts Program is current regarding screening prospects, cultivating donors, and meetings to ask for donations. Works with Major Gifts Officer to schedule "--Meet and Greet' meetings with funders for the Executive Director, and any other participants required. Oversees all aspects of the Sponsor A Child Campaign and stewardship. Annual Campaigns: Coordinates and implements the annual fundraising campaigns including direct mail, email and telephone. Develops and assists with online fundraising: assists with implementation of annual campaign plan, crafts appeals, and assists with online advocacy and list growth effects. Newsletter, annual report or additional letter writing responsibilities. Events: Leads and coordinates fundraising event planning and logistics for fundraisers, prospect parties, receptions, etc. Leads various committees and volunteers during fundraising campaigns and events. Board of Directors and Advisory Board: Works with the Executive Director and Board Chair to schedule Board Meetings. Prepares, send invitations, collect all required reports, including financial data in preparation for the Board Meetings. Participates as an active member of the organization's Development Committee. Works with the Chair of the Storyteller Advisory Board to invite, schedule and create agendas for the meetings. Volunteers: Develops and maintains a network of volunteers for fundraising programs and special events Schedules all volunteer orientations, ensuring volunteers meet Storyteller requirements. Maintains, updates and ensures all volunteer files are complete, accurate and current. MANAGEMENT/DEVELOPMENT: Creates comprehensive development plan with specific goals, revenue targets, timeline, and action steps reflecting the Board's and Executive Director's Strategic Plan. Works closely with the Board and Development Committee in identifying and designing new fundraising projects. Finalizes foundation reports and correspondence. Contacts, meets with, and cultivates donors for the organization for the Executive Director. Schedules and supports appointments for appropriate candidate to meet with individual donors. Maintains accurate and up-to-date information in the database of all grant deadlines, report requirements, and donor activity, and keep Executive Director, Grant Writer, Major Gifts Officer and Board informed. Maintains active relationships with long-term donors. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to walk, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. SAFETY: Assists in the creation of a culture of safety and environmental protection by performing work safely in accordance with departmental safety procedures. Operates equipment safely and reports any unsafe work conditions or practice to Executive Director.
