Description: Licensed clinicians are eligible for up to $50,000
in student loan forgiveness because CALM is an NHSC approved site.
The School Based Therapist is responsible for providing therapeutic
services for children in Pre-Kindergarten through 6th grade, and
their families. This position works across Santa Barbara Unified
School District elementary schools where children learn and grow.
The therapist works in partnership with School Based Mental Health
Consultant (MHC) to strengthen relationships involved in the care
setting to create nurturing and responsive environments and build
strong school and home alliances. Requirements: Demonstrate core
conditions of the therapeutic relationship including empathy,
genuineness/authenticity, and unconditional positive regard.
Complete clinical assessment and diagnosis with clients to assess
their strengths and needs from a clinical perspective. Develop case
conceptualization that is informed by biological, psychological,
social, cultural factors and protective factors as a framework for
the therapeutic process. Develop a treatment plan with measurable
and observable goals in collaboration with clients. Provide
developmentally appropriate and culturally responsive therapeutic
interventions. Implement evidence-based modalities to fidelity.
Administer periodic assessments to monitor, guide, and communicate
treatment progression with clients. Participate in trainings and
work towards certification in appropriate modalities. Provide
consistent client care and address issues of engagement in order to
ensure continuity of services. Maintain current knowledge in topics
related to the position (e.g., child development, trauma-informed
care, secondary traumatic stress, ACEs, etc.). Collaborate with a
multidisciplinary team and CALM MHC and serve as a liaison between
families, school staff, and community-based organizations when
applicable. Provide crisis intervention and stabilization services
as needed. Education and/or Experience: Master's or Doctorate
degree required Must be either registered or licensed with the
Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Associate Marriage and Family
Therapist (AMFT), Associate Social Worker (ASW), Associate
Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC), Licensed Marriage and
Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or
Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) -OR- eligible to be
registered with the CA Board of Psychology as a Psychological
Associate or Registered Psychologist At least three years of
experience working with children in grades pre k-6th At least two
years of experience working in a mental health profession
Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in child development and early
childhood mental health Experience working in private or public
school site environments preferred Qualifications: Bilingual in
English and Spanish preferred (CALM pays an additional $2 per hour
if bilingual) Ability to work independently and collaboratively as
part of a multi-disciplinary team is essential Excellent verbal and
written communication skills required Proficient in use of Zoom,
Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and
can adapt to using various types of software Capacity to work
within the culture or system of the school community Ability to
work in a busy, noisy, and often dynamic settings where children
learn and grow Valid automobile insurance and a valid California
Driver License are required Reliable transportation is necessary to
travel throughout Santa Barbara CALM Compensation and Benefits:Our

ranging from $28 to $36 depending on licensure and experience.
