Job summary:
The Engineering Manager (EM) will be responsible for managing and inspiring our Engineering team to develop systems and products that exceed our customers' requirements and expectations. This role will involve both project management and staff management. The EM will work closely with Program Managers to translate program requirements into engineering tasks. The EM will delegate tasks across the Engineering team, and oversee their successful completion. A collaborative attitude and strong interpersonal skills will be critical to success in this role.
Responsibilities:

• 
  
• Manage, coach, and support the Engineering team
  
• Work with Program Managers to translate program requirements into engineering tasks
  
• Work with subject matter experts to develop detailed plans for new designs and products
  
• Develop technical strategies to achieve Engineering goals
  
• Communicate Engineering team goals with engineering staff members
  
• Determine equipment, staff and training needs for the Engineering team
  
• Implement and monitor technical performance metrics
  
• Ensure the validity of methods used by the Engineering team
  
• Review your team's work for technical accuracy
  
• Coordinate internal staffing needs across multiple projects to ensure project timelines are met
  
• Provide regular status updates on Engineering work to Project Managers (in the form of meetings, briefings, and/or technical reports)
  
• Generate and deliver technical briefings to managers and customers
  
• Provide technical input for proposals and business development activities
  
• Hire and train new Engineering staff
  
  Qualifications:
  
  • 
    
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical or Systems Engineering is preferred)
    
  • 5+ years of Engineering management experience
    
  • Advanced degrees and/or management certifications are a plus
    
  • Analytical skills for evaluating risks associated with product design, development, schedule, manufacturing, deployment, maintenance, etc.
    
  • Strong organizational skills for tracking requirements, technical progress, staffing, and schedules
    
  • Effective leadership skills
    
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for overseeing staff, communicate instructions and expectations, and coordinating with other management personnel
    
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Clearance; active or previous Security Clearance is desired
