Northrop Grumman Space Components, Deployables Operating Unit (OU)
is a leading supplier of advanced Deployable Reflectors, Solar
Arrays, Boom and other structures and mechanisms for Spacecraft and
other space-related applications. In addition, the unit also
designs and produces microwave EW and slotted waveguide antennas
for aircraft. We are seeking Program Managers to support operations
in our Goleta, CA and Oxnard, CA facilities.OverviewReporting to
the Deployables Director of Programs within the Deployables OU, the
Program Manager 3 will be responsible for managing key programs
within the Deployables business portfolio and providing functional
management to other Program Managers within the OU. This PM3 will
require technical expertise, strong leadership and collaborative
people skills with the proven ability and experience to work within
a technically dynamic, high-growth, fast-paced and strategically
important operating unit.Responsibilities
- Manage a small group of (up to 5) PMs, responsible for
functional management, performance reviews, growth opportunities
and hiring new PMs
- Lead and direct cross-functional engineering teams during
proposal, design, manufacturing, and delivery phases of products in
development and production phases
- Transition designs to manufacturing, working with the technical
team to identify ways to streamline manufacturing and assembly
processes, achieving required delivery rates and reduced cost
targets
- Develop and execute to project budgets and schedules, including
Earned Value Management System (EVMS), critical path management,
Estimates-at-Completion (EACs), and workload forecasts
- Work with suppliers and be able to articulate project
requirements
- Brief internal and external customers and leadership on
progress of work assigned
- Lead failure root cause analysis and corrective actions as
needed
- Track and report on program performance metrics including EACs
and schedule performance
- Establish milestones and monitors adherence to master plans and
schedules
- Identify program problems and obtains solutions, such as
allocation of resources or changing contractual specifications
- Work closely with leadership to ensure full compliance with
Division, Corporate, and Government policiesBasic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or technical discipline
- 15+ years of Program or Project Management experience or
similar (e.g. Lead IPT (Integrated Product Team), or Lead NPT (New
Product Team) or Systems Engineering lead
- Experience in design for manufacturing and transition to
production programs
- Gated design development experience (PDR, CDR)
- Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation
skills
- Proven analytical, technical, strategic and problem-solving
skills
- Proficient in MS Office Suite and MS Project
- US Citizenship is a requirement for employment Preferred
Qualifications
- Familiarity with Space Deployable Structures and
Mechanisms
- Prior functional management experience a plusWorking
Environment & Physical Demands:
- Travel to customer site and/or within the Operating Unit to
Oxnard, CA, up to 25% of the time; both domestic and international
travel as required
- Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of times and
light physical effort as required Salary Range: $171,000 USD -
$256,400 USD Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in
addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward
individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in
company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions
may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop
