Job Description:
Job Summary:Assist club management staff with recruitment,
selection, and orientation of new staff members. Administer payroll
records and assure that all applicable federal, state, and local
wage and hour, worker's compensation and related laws are
consistently complied with. Manage the club's health, retirement,
and other benefits programs. Conduct labor analyses, staff
planning, and other studies as requested.Job Tasks and
Responsibilities:--- Manages the club's personnel program; assists
in the development and implementation of applicable policies
andprocedures; processes various labor staffing reports;
coordinates software applications to generate required
information.--- Develops and places recruitment ads; plans
recruitment strategies; screens applicants and makes hiring
recommendations.--- Conducts and reviews wage and benefit surveys;
proposes employee benefits enhancements to the general manager.---
Coordinates the development and publication of the employee
newsletter.--- Coordinates all employee record-keeping
functions.--- Continually reviews and assists in updating the
employee handbook and personnel-related policies; assists in the
management of the club's progressive discipline program; maintains
club policy manual.--- Manages the club's group insurance,
unemployment, and related benefits programs; communicates benefits
information to staff.--- Assists in the process and monitors FMLA
and Personal Leaves in compliance with State and Federal Labor Laws
and company policies.--- Follow all necessary and proper protocol
in relation to all COVID related situations on all levels: CDC,
State and County Health Department.--- Undertakes special projects
relating to job description and specification updates, performance
appraisal improvements, wage and salary comparison surveys,
long-range staff planning and other personnel issues.--- Maintains
positive employee relations and strives to motivate and increase
employee retention.--- Conducts internal investigations and makes
recommendations based on findings.--- Assists in proactively
keeping to a minimum labor claim filed with the Department of
Labor, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and/or California
Human Rights Commission. Gives guidance of the same with managers
and supervisors as appropriate.--- Keeps abreast of State and
Federal laws and regulations relating to employees; assures
compliance with these laws and regulations; advises club managers,
as necessary.--- Advises line managers about discipline, discharge,
and related employment matters.--- Provides general property
orientation for new employees; assists in the development and
implementation of inter-department orientation and training
programs.--- Assists department heads in planning professional
development and training programs for employees.--- Develops
forecasts of short- and long-term staffing needs.--- Coordinates
transfer, promotion, and layoff strategies within the club.---
Benchmarks the club's employee recruitment and selection processes
with others in the industry and explores new strategies as
appropriate.--- Organizes employee recognition functions,
activities such as the holiday party and other outings as
appropriate.--- Compiles and adheres to departmental budget; takes
corrective actions as necessary to help assure that budget goals
are adhered.--- Oversees all work-related injury claims to ensure
integrity, on-going case management and reporting compliance.---
Recruits, trains, supervises, schedules, and evaluates staff
members in the human resources department.--- Works with payroll
personnel to assure that all forms required of new employees are
completed.--- Conducts preliminary employment interview with
employee applicants.--- Maintains OSHA-related logs and reports.---
Coordinates, monitors, and suggests improvements for the club's
employee performance appraisal system.--- Maintains employee
bulletin boards.--- Schedules and conducts club-wide employee
health and safety meetings.--- Maintains eligible driver report for
all club vehicles.--- Interacts with general manager and department
heads to investigate employee violations of club policies and to
recommend correction actions, if necessary.--- Interacts with
club's attorney relative to personnel legal issues involving
concerns about EEOC, harassment and lawsuits.--- Attends staff
meetings as scheduled.--- Develops personnel-related reports for
the general manager or department managers.--- Performs special
projects as assigned by the general manager.Other Functions:---
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.Physical
Requirements:--- Extensively uses a keyboard to interact with
computer system.--- Regularly required to communicate verbally.---
Regularly proofreads and/or reviews documents.--- Frequently sits
for extended periods of time.--- Occasionally pushes and/or pulls
carts, dollies, and the like.--- Occasionally lifts and/or carries
objects weighing up to 10 lbs.Educational/Training Requirements:---
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field.--- Minimum 5
years' experience in Human Resources management.--- Bilingual in
English and Spanish. Requires excellent verbal and written English
and Spanish communication skills.--- Ongoing training in State and
Federal Employment Law.--- Work experience in both union and
union-free environments.--- Basic to intermediate skills in MS Word
and Excel in a Windows environment.--- Public speaking/Group
presentation skills.--- Knowledge of HRIS and Internet.What to
