Discovery Life Sciences, formerly QualTek Molecular Laboratories, is a specialty laboratory services provider at the forefront of using IHC as a biomarker platform for personalized medicine. With our expertise in IHC services focused on oncology, inflammatory diseases, as well as other disease states, we are developing novel cancer tests to improve cancer patient outcomes. The Manager, Laboratory Services - IHC contributes to our mission by leading the IHC laboratory by overseeing, cultivating, expanding, and improving the performance of our IHC laboratory.


Ensure IHC Laboratory runs efficiently and effectively
Responsible for Immunohistochemistry (IHC) and standard histology protocols in CAP/CLIA and GCLP setting
Utilize laboratory knowledge and expertise to identify and resolve overall laboratory operational issues
Interact with all levels of internal and external sources to resolve problems
Maintain staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees and contract personnel
Accomplish staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees
Develop, coordinate and enforce systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards
Ensure appropriate lab compliance with institutional and accrediting agency regulations
Determine and provide appropriate supplies for laboratory personnel
Oversee purchasing, calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment
Collaborate with Quality to ensure laboratory meets quality standards: create SOPs for laboratory operations; respond to non-conformances, develop Corrective Action/Preventative Actions
Coordinate laboratory educational activities
Perform custom protocols for clients according to customized SOPs
Monitor laboratory safety procedures and equipment
Provide technical guidance, resources, and support to employees and management of the company to include Clinical Sites, Project Management, Feasibility and Shipping/Receiving
Follow company policies and procedures, including quality, safety and/or universal precautions
Serve as backup for Laboratory personnel when needed
Track work and progress in specified Data Management Tools
Respect the privacy of the personal information of patients, co-workers, and all individuals with whom the Company interacts
Ensure compliance with all laws and regulations applicable to the Company and its operations

Education and/or Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's in Biology, Biochemistry, or a related discipline required
Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant laboratory experience inclusive of IHC techniques, optimization, and validation
Competion of an accredited Histotechnology Program: HT(ASCP), HTL(ASCP), QIHC(ASCP) required
Certification under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 (CLIA) as qualified to perform high complexity testing
Extensive experience in immunohistochemistry staining and protocol development and validation desirable
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize assignments and resolve multiple complex problems simultaneously
Keen attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures
Ability to communicate with peer level managers to resolve issues that impact multiple departments
Working knowledge of universal precautions, bloodborne pathogens, and handling human specimens
Extensive knowledge of HIPAA and medical privacy policies
Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evenings and or weekends
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
