Summary of Job Duties
(Note: This summary will be used for keyword search) Provides leadership for strategic operations and long-range planning of Student Health (SH) to ensure high quality, efficient, cost effective & coordinated healthcare services for UCSB students, working with internal and external UCSB constituencies, to support the mission of the Division of Student Affairs, UCSB and the University of California (UC) system. The Executive Director has overall responsibility for daily operations and external relations of the Student Health (SH), a comprehensive medical facility providing primary care, behavioral health and specialist services to over 22,000 UCSB students, including the Alcohol and Drug Program, Pharmacy, Laboratory, Radiology, Physical Therapy, Dental Care Center and Eye Care Center. Manages a $24+ million budget employing 140+ FTE staff members and additional student staff. Serves as or supervises the Campus Physician in charge of responding to all public health emergencies, participating in campus disaster preparedness, and advising campus officials on any public health emergencies and medical issues involving students. Responsible for compliance with all regulations, accreditation requirements and direction of dynamic Risk Management Program. Participates in statewide UCOP initiatives and represents UCSB in numerous committees and work groups.

Minimum Requirements
This position requires an advanced degree in Public Health, Healthcare Administration or related fields along with at least five years of relevant experience in a leadership or administrative role; or an M.D., Ph.D., Psy.D. or other clinical training along with at least five years of relevant experience in healthcare administration in a leadership role.

The following requirements must be met if the selected candidate is a physician:

All physicians must have a current California license and DEA license at all times during employment in order to practice and function in their clinical role.

Board Certification is highly desirable and must be maintained throughout employment.

Student Health requires that all clinical staff must successfully complete and pass background check and credentialing process before employment date of hire.

Must initially satisfy credentialing requirements to be approved for clinical privileges at Student Health, and maintain those privileges while employed as detailed in the Student Health Organizational Guidelines and Credentialing.
To comply with Santa Barbara County Public Health Department Health Officer Order, this position must provide evidence of annual influenza vaccination, or wear a surgical mask while working in patient care areas during the influenza season.
