Job Description:

First and foremost, the camp director is responsible for overseeing all elements of camp. The camp director will lead an administrative team and be an active voice amongst campers and staff. The director will work closely with the executive director of Girls Rock SB to ensure that the daily operations of camp are inline with both the mission and health and safety standards. The camp director will be the point of contact for all camp families and will work with each to help each child have a great summer. Supervision The camp director is supervised by the executive director of GRSB and will directly supervise the administrative team. The camp director will indirectly supervise the entire staff team and ultimately holds the power to recommend termination to the executive director. Work Schedule and Physical Requirements The camp director will work 6 days out of the week, and have a 24 hour period off (excluding weekends) free from camp responsibilities, while still upholding conduct expectations. The camp director's day starts at 9am when daily operations begin. The morning tends to be the busiest time of day for the director with assembly running, staff meetings taking place, and kids starting a new day at camp. The daily schedule is dependent on the happenings of camp. When not tending to daily concerns, the director is to make time to tend to administrative tasks. The camp director will also be on-call at night based on a rotating duty schedule with other members of the administrative team to be available tend to any needs of camp during the night. The camp director is expected to navigate a school campus in potentially intense temperatures. The director may also be need to move/lift heavy objects; however, one can advocate for reasonable assistance. As job duties occur at all hours of the day, the director may not hold a secondary job nor participate in personal course instruction without permission of the executive director. Additional Responsibilities are, but are not limited to: Before students arrive: Attend ACA Tri-State conference in March Prepare and lead staff orientation with the help of the assistant director and lead instructor and counselors Ensure that all staff positions are filled and make adjustments as necessary Read all materials related to camp operations Train on how to use Campminder Arrive to camp early and manage camp move in Arrive to camp early and orient the admin team Correspond with OVS host to discuss camp and facility needs Once camp has begun: Be on call 24 hours a day Remain in contact with executive director Attend staff meetings Read incident reports daily and respond appropriately Manage all parent communication and check email and voicemails daily for parent correspondences Coordinate all camper travel Be point of contact for lead counselor and lead instructor on weekend excursions Distribute payment to all staff Complete paperwork in a timely and diligent fashion such that it is consistent with camp standards 10. Be on call at night at dictated by the rotating duty schedule with other members of the administrative team. Respond to any maintenance issues and work OVS team to resolve them Provide emotional support for campers and staff, practice appropriate disclosure, and involve executive director when necessary Work with OVS to maintain a fun, productive working relationship as well as work together on camp issues and campus issues. Monitor staff moral and find ways to boost it when needed Follow protocols related to health care covered in orientation and handbook. Assist with health office logistics and urgent medical situations when they arise; which may require accompany a camper to an off-campus resources Work with the executive director to resolve all disciplinary issues. In cases when the executive director and the camp director disagree, the executive director has the ultimate say 19. Supervise and evaluate all staff's ability to meet expectations, in cases when conflict arises or staff are not working inline with camp standards and mission, the director must help resolve said concerns in conjunction with the director supervisors of the staff members. After Camp is Over Manage the movement of gear from camp to storage See to it that all staff have been evaluated and prepare evaluations for those that the director directly supervises Prepare site report that details feedback and recommendations for next summer YourMembership.Category: Education, Keywords: Camp Director
