Raytheon Vision Systems (RVS) is searching for an experienced
Process or Materials Engineer to support the design and manufacture
of state-of-the art infrared sensor systems. The Camera & Sensor
Packaging department at RVS is responsible for packaging sensors in
sophisticated hermetic platforms to support challenging
Electro-Optical applications for Space, Tactical, Airborne and
Emerging markets. The successful candidate will work with
Manufacturing, Systems and Mechanical engineering groups to sustain
and improve existing processes, make recommendations on new designs
and troubleshoot problems across the value stream.
The candidate should have technical proficiency in manufacturing as
well as proficiency and comfort in interfacing with multiple
functions including Factory Operations, Product Engineering,
Program Management, Equipment and Process Engineering and Supply
Chain.

Responsibilities:
Excellent understanding of materials and metallurgy; recommending
specific materials for specific applications
Ability to perform as a Process Owner responsible for several
production processes including laser welding, vacuum brazing and
heat treating, soldering. This includes writing and certifying work
instructions, training technicians, creating control plans and
defining defect reduction/yield improvement plans
Understand and interpret specifications
Experience in analytic materials testing methods and techniques
Troubleshoot production line issues, recommend paths (testing) for
demonstrating product reliability
Experience in applied failure analysis methods and techniques
Ability to field Material questions, make recommendations on new
designs and intelligently troubleshoot Production issues with
regards to manufacturing materials
Partner with Supplier Quality Engineering to troubleshoot issues
with incoming hardware from vendors, analyze Supplier processes,
make recommendations for improvement
Developing requirements and qualification plans for Capital
procurements
Required Skills:
6 years' experience as a Process, Manufacturing or Materials
Engineer in an Electro-Optics or Microelectronics environment.
Graduate level education can substitute for experience
Familiarity with basic principles of hermetic packaging
processes
Ability to understand and develop Engineer specifications, drawings
and requirements
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to understanding chemical safety data and ability to follow
safety protocols including the use of Personal Protective
Equipment
Computer literacy (Excel, Word, PowerPoint as well as the ability
to learn and use engineering and manufacturing software)
Ability to work in a cleanroom environment wearing coverall
garments
Ability to obtain a US Government Secret clearance within one year
of start date
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require
the ability to access US only data systems
Desired Skills:
Direct experience with laser and e-beam welders, vacuum
brazing/heat treating equipment and microelectronics soldering
Familiarity with metrology equipment and characterization
techniques used in infrared dewar fabrication
Experience with mechanical and physical testing of materials and
Failure Analysis
Understanding of vacuum systems design and operation
Manufacturing experience in Aerospace, Defense or
Microelectronics
Experience in material selection for the design of infrared sensor
systems
Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of
Experiments (DOE/ANOVA)
Equipment and controls systems design or experience
Visual Basic, G code, C+, Python, Matlab or other computer
programming experience
Program and Project management experience
Experience with Infrared Detector or Systems Technology
Existing US Government Secret clearance
Required Education:
Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or
Mathematics (STEM), preferably Materials Science Engineering
Requires advanced knowledge of work area typically obtained through
advanced education combined with experience. May have practical
knowledge of project management. Practical to substantial knowledge
of RTX projects, programs or systems with the ability to make
enhancements and leverage in daily work.

ERIP Award Eligible:
The salary range for this role is 75,000 USD - 161,000 USD;
however, Raytheon Technologies considers several factors when
extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and
associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience,
education/training, and key skills.
