Job SummaryUnder general supervision, evaluate and analyze products, components, materials, and equipment for the purpose of understanding and predicting failures. Review product designs, material specifications, and manufacturing capability to predict reliability and dependability. Create prototypes and conduct product tests to gather reliability data. Interpret test results and recommend solutions using appropriate statistical distributions and reliability models. Recommend product design changes or alterations in manufacturing processes and controls to ensure achievement of required reliability levels. Monitor production equipment diagnostics and review maintenance record in order to predict and prevent equipment down times. Document findings, including results of root cause analysis, and facilitate the implementation of necessary changes to ensure product and/or equipment reliability levels are maintained. May determine maintenance requirements and schedules for products and equipment. Reports to Engineering Manager or designate. The Reliability and Rotating Equipment Engineer, under increasingly limited supervision, will work closely with R&D, Manufacturing, Reliability & Maintenance Mechanics, and Process Engineering to plan and design equipment upgrades and optimization to support NuSil's fixed and rotating equipment fleet. The Reliability and Rotating Equipment Engineer will be the internal subject matter expert for rotating equipment, while driving efficiency and substantive improvement in the operation of the equipment.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES* Lead the refurbishment and repair of rotating and fixed equipment* Assess, troubleshoot, and drive improvement efforts for NuSil's rotating equipment fleet* Convert NuSil's CMMS to task lists, plans, and strategies in new SAP environment* Function as the key user for Engineering in SAP go-live and beyond and training Engineering team on EAM functions* Troubleshooting and repairs of down equipment, occasionally leading groups of mechanics and engineers* Maintenance and Reliability program development and implementation to enhance the capabilities of the Engineering group, promoting a more proactive than reactive culture* Reliability and maintainability assessments of capital projects by other groups/engineers* Cross-site coordination for parts stock and inventory development and management, equipment modifications and studies, and streamlining of maintenance plans* Preventive maintenance writing and scheduling* Documentation activities including Installation/Operational Qualification, Equipment Operating Procedures, Work Instructions (LOTO, Preventative Maintenance), safety training* Involvement in equipment PSM, including Process Hazard Analysis, Process Safety Information, and Mechanical Integrity* Design and install optimized components for the NuSil equipment fleet* Build and maintain contractor and vendor relationships to address reliability-related repairs and maintenance* Scope and execute capital projects for reliability-related improvements / repairs* Perform return on investment (ROI) calculations for growth capital projects* Uphold and implement Avantor Safety Procedures and High Hazard permits for associates and contractors* Investigate injury and incident reports where incident is related to engineering personnel or equipment reliability-related issuesSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES May direct Engineering Mechanics / Electricians / Contractors on aspects of various projectsQUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE* BS or higher Mechanical Engineering* High mechanical aptitude* Experience working with rotating equipment including agitators, pumps, turbines, compressors, etc.* Regular, frequent experience with SAP preferred* Proficient in CAD modeling, FEA, design optimizations (preferably SolidWorks)* Comfortable producing experimental data to drive decisions* Previous experience utilizing a Computerized Maintenance Management System a plus* Previous experience with Root Cause Analysis, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, and other risk assessment tools preferred* Hands-on work mentality* Experience in a shop environment, using basic hand and shop tools* Familiarity with OSHA PSM Mechanical Integrity requirements and regulationsDISCLAIMER:
