Minimum qualifications: + Bachelor's degree in CS, Physics, or technical field related to quantum computing or equivalent practical experience. + Experience with electronics fundamentals pertinent to DC and microwave electrical test design. + Experience in creating written documentation of procedures, setups, and experimental results. + Experience with on-wafer probing, package testing, or associated lab equipment (eg, oscilloscopes, time domain reflectometry). Preferred qualifications: + Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Engineering, Materials Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. + Experience with coding for controlling equipment, data analysis and data visualization. + Experience in a collaborative software environment (version control, code review, style guides, etc.) building tools for other engineers and end-users. + Experience with one or more of the following: reliability testing, yield improvement, vendor management, CAD drawing, rapid prototyping at a machine shop, or test time reduction. The Google Quantum Hardware team is part of the Google AI Quantum research team, and we are building novel systems that can leverage quantum mechanics to outperform the world's largest computers at certain classes of problems. Our custom built systems and devices operate in a dilution refrigerator, posing a very unique set of challenges. As a Hardware Engineer, you will oversee all room temperature related test processes and equipment. You will interface with fabrication, packaging and assembly teams to ensure testing needs are met including day-to-day operations. You will be responsible for troubleshooting and developing throughput and reliability improvements for electrical and mechanical test equipment. You will drive the purchase of new equipment to support new and existing capability needs. + Own room temperature test workflow for quantum devices, from back-of-line wafer-level electrical test through to pre-cooldown testing of assembled/packaged devices. Maintain test tools and fixtures, processes, documentation, and vendor relationships. + Develop, automate, and improve tests: design and develop new tests, increase test throughput and reliability, and improve data tracking. + Work collaboratively across the Quantum Hardware team to support the diverse testing needs of a rapidly evolving research climate. + Verify test data through basic analysis and plotting. Work with database engineers to manage data using internal database (SQL and Python) to store and access data.
