Establish and maintain good supplier relations. Coordinate with
internal groups to ensure the steady flow of deliveries to support
the project production schedule. Support purchasing activities and
RFP requirements as needed. Develop and maintain vendor
relationships. Ensure vendors are properly supported to maintain
the subcontract schedule. Ensure vendor compliance with all
subcontract requirements. Assist and advise engineering, quality,
accounting, production, and project management departments as
needed. Regularly report vendor status to management groups.
Monitor shipments and deliveries, advising the logistics department
on the best shipping methods. Reconcile vendor invoices. Maintain
purchasing files and documents. Prepare documents for Buy America
compliance and audits. Prepare reports for DBE compliance. Maintain
regular vendor communications through meetings, emails, or other
communication forms. Travel will be required (domestic and
international). Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Experience you will need: Strong problem-solving skills. Ability to
work with diverse personality and cultural groups. 3 years of
working experience in the rail industry, preferably in a purchasing
or contracts capacity. Advanced computer skills in MS Office (Word,
Excel, Access). Ability to work independently or with minimal
oversight on standard problems. Ability to organize and prioritize
to meet strict deadlines. Ability to analyze current processes,
identify areas of inefficiency, and suggest improvements. Ability
to read, understand, and discuss basic technical concepts.
Experience reading and understanding engineering drawings and
documents is a plus. Strong background in managing multiple
supplier issues simultaneously is desired. Bachelor’s Degree in
Business or a related area, or equivalent experience in Purchasing
or Contract.
