ORGANIZATION OVERVIEWFounded in 2004, Brilliant Corners provides
innovative housing and housing-related services to California's
most vulnerable individuals, with an emphasis on those
transitioning from, or at risk of, homelessness or
institutionalization. We develop, own and manage multi-family
supportive housing and licensed residential care homes, and
implement a broad array of scattered-site, one-on-one supportive
housing, and clinical case management programs through partnerships
with developmental services, homeless services, veterans' services
and health care sectors.In short, we do good work.We have offices
in San Francisco and Los Angeles, currently have 450 staff and are

fun doing it.Position SummaryBrilliant Corners seeks a highly
qualified and motivated individual to be part of the accounting
services team of a rapidly growing nonprofit managing a diverse
array of government-funded supportive housing properties and
service programs. This position supports the Accounting Manager and
Accounting Supervisor in carrying out the responsibilities of the
department.The Staff Accountant will report directly to the
Accounting Supervisor and will work closely with a team of
accountants. The candidate is required to maintain a collaborative
working relationship with Brilliant Corners Managers and other
related personnel. Successful performance of the work requires
considerable knowledge of governmental accounting principles as
well as GAAP and the ability to exercise sound independent judgment
within established guidelines.Location: Candidates must reside in
California (prefer Los Angeles or San Francisco Area), position is
primarily remote with occasional in-office requirementsPay: $60k
annually, non-exemptResponsibilities--- Assist the invoicing team
in Flexible Housing Subsidy Poll (FHSP), Housing Program Unit
(HPU), and CalAIMs in preparing timely program invoicing.--- Assist
with HPU/FHSP credit card reconciliations.--- Assist with Amazon
transactions as it relates to programs. --- Assist the Finance Team
with Quarterly external audit preparation. --- Answer accounting
and financial questions by researching and interpreting data. ---
Audit monthly invoices to create a list of transactions that need
reclassification in our accounting system. --- Create program
billing summary to provide to our funders--- Perform month-end
close reviews to assist Finance Team. --- Provide reporting support
to ensure timely submission of invoice reimbursement.--- Review and
complete monthly client level expenditure reports. --- Use
Salesforce to confirm client expenses are billed to the correct

- Thorough understanding of GAAP requirements.
- Analytical and detail oriented yet able to look at the whole
picture to meet deadlines
- Ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple priorities
and function independently and as a team member.
- Understanding of concepts, principles and practices of funding
agency relations and compliance requirements as well as donor
expectations regarding gift stewardship.
- Excellent computer skills (MS Word, Excel, databases,
etc).
- Sensitivity to homeless people and the issues of homelessness
and recovery, and ability to work with people from diverse
educational and personal backgrounds.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or business with emphasis in
accounting, preferred but not required Knowledge, Skills and
AbilityLANGUAGE SKILLSStrong verbal and written communication
skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical
publications, government contracts, leases, regulatory documents,
financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to write reports
that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively
present information to top management, boards of directors, and
public groups.MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to calculate figures and
amounts such as interest, proportions, percentages, and area.
Ability to apply basic math and geometry concepts to practical
situations. Facility with Microsoft Excel and ability to use a
financial calculator.REASONING ABILITYAbility to define problems,
collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability
to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in
mathematical, diagram, and written form and to deal with multiple
